Section SPS 366.1001 - Change of occupancy(1) CHANGE OF OCCUPANCY APPROVAL. Substitute the following wording for the requirements in IEBC section 1001.2: A change of occupancy or a change of occupancy within a space where there is a different fire protection system threshold requirement in IBC chapter 9 may not be made to any structure without the approval of the code official. An increased occupant load may trigger additional means of egress or fire protection requirements.(2) CHANGE OF OCCUPANCY CLASSIFICATION. This is a department rule in addition to the requirements in IEBC section 1001.2.2: Buildings undergoing a change in occupancy that would result in an increase in demand for either fossil fuel or electrical energy shall comply with the IECC.(3) CERTIFICATION OF OCCUPANCY REQUIRED.
