Section 48-7-6 - Certification Procedures
6.1. Application for certification. Prior to taking an examination for certification an individual must submit an application to the Office of Miners' Health, Safety and Training to take the examination. The application must be submitted to the Office of Miners' Health, Safety and Training within thirty (30) days of completion of the apprentice training program.
6.2. Upon receipt of an application for examination, the Office of Miners' Health, Safety and Training shall provide for the applicant to be examined at the next available examination, which is at least fifteen (15) days from receipt of the application, and shall inform the applicant of the time and place for examination. Within fifteen (15) days after the completion of the examination, the Office of Miners' Health, Safety and Training shall inform the applicant of his or her score.
6.3. Certification. Upon determination that an applicant for certification has satisfactorily passed the examination for certification, and has presented proper documented electrical experience, the Office of Miners' Health, Safety and Training shall promptly issue the electrical certification to the applicant.

Effect of certification. Except where otherwise provided in this rule, no person may perform electrical work:

6.3.1. until such person has become a certified electrician to perform such work; or,
6.3.2. unless such work is performed by an apprentice electrician under the direct supervision or immediate supervision of a certified electrician; or,
6.3.3. unless such work is performed on circuits of forty (40) volts or less.
6.4. This provision does not prohibit a person already being trained prior to the effective date of these rules, to continue to perform electrical work under the direct supervision of a certified electrician until he has met the experience requirements.
