Section 36-53-3 - Communications3.1. The operator of every coal mine shall have at least two effective methods of communication, approved by the Director, for signaling from the top to the bottom and intermediate landings of shafts/slopes, suitably adapted to the free passage of sound, through which conversation may be held between persons at the top and at the bottom of the shaft/slope station(s) and person(s) at the hoist room; Signaling systems used for communication between shaft/slope stations and the hoist room shall be tested daily.
