Section 15-8-8 - Pharmacist Requirement to Check the Controlled Substances Monitoring Program Database8.1. A pharmacist shall access the West Virginia Controlled Substances Monitoring Program Database for information regarding specific patients in the following scenarios: 8.1.a. upon initially dispensing any Schedule II controlled substance, any opioid, or any benzodiazepine to a patient who is not suffering from a terminal illness; and8.1.b. at least annually thereafter should the pharmacist continue to dispense the patient with a controlled substance.
