Section 388-112A-1230 - What is a guest speaker and what are the minimum qualifications to be a guest speaker?
(1) A guest speaker is a person selected by an approved instructor to teach a specific topic. A guest speaker:
(a) May only teach a specific subject in which the guest speaker has knowledge, background, and experience that establishes expertise on the topic they will teach;
(b) May not teach the entire course;
(c) Must not supplant the primary teaching responsibilities of the primary instructor; and
(d) Must cover the DSHS competencies and learning objectives for the topic the guest speaker is teaching.
(2) The approved instructor must:
(a) Ensure the guest speaker meets these minimum qualifications;
(b) Maintain documentation of the guest speaker's qualifications and experience;
(c) Supervise and monitor the guest speaker's performance; and
(d) Be responsible for ensuring the required content is taught.
(3) DSHS does not approve guest speakers.
