Gear made of steel, or gear which contains (as in ball bearing swivels), or is permanently attached to (as with blocks), equipment made of materials which cannot be subjected to heat treatment, must be exempt from the requirements of WAC 296-304-16007. Such gear, however, must be thoroughly examined in the manner described in WAC 296-304-16005(3).
