Section 296-24-71513 - Lead
(1)Confined spaces. In confined spaces, you must perform welding involving lead-base metals (erroneously called lead-burning) in accordance with WAC 296-24-71507(1) through (5).
(2)Indoors. Indoors, you must perform welding involving lead-base metals in accordance with WAC 296-24-71505(1) and (2).
(3)Local ventilation. In confined spaces or indoors, you must perform welding or cutting operations involving metals containing lead, other than as an impurity, or involving metals coated with lead-bearing materials, including paint using local exhaust ventilation or airline respirators. You must perform such operations, when done outdoors, using respirators, certified for this purpose by NIOSH under 42 C.F.R. Part 84 . In all cases, you must protect workers in the immediate vicinity of the cutting operation as necessary by local exhaust ventilation or airline respirators.
