Section 246-359-530 - Interior finishes(1) Floors must be finished to provide an easily cleanable surface. Acceptable finishes are paint, sheet vinyl, tile, or other materials designed for use as a finished floor surface. All materials must be installed per manufacturer's instructions.(2)Walls and ceilings must be finished to prevent any injury to an occupant, for example, no protruding nails or other fasteners or any wires.(3)In toileting and kitchen areas, walls must be finished to provide an easily cleanable surface impervious to moisture.(4)If material to provide a finished surface for the walls is to be installed, then material such as one-half inch minimum thickness gypsum board (GB) must be secured to the wall structural members by fasteners approved for such attachment such as glue, nails, or screws. If GB is installed, then the joints must be fire taped and the wall surface sealed with paint or covered with another wall finish material.(5)If materials are installed to provide a finished surface for the ceiling, then material such as five-eighths inch minimum thickness GB must be secured to the ceiling structural members by fasteners approved for such attachment such as nails or screws. If GB is installed, then the joints must be fire taped and the ceiling surface sealed with paint.(6)Comply with all applicable state and federal laws and rules for lead-based paint.Wash. Admin.
