WHEREAS, the Gypsy Moth (Porthetria dispar L.), a threatening and injurious insect in any stage of development, is established in a portion of the State of Vermont and there is danger of its introduction into other sections of the State, and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Plant Pest Control Division, has promulgated a revision of Federal Quarantine No. 45 which places certain parts of Vermont under regulation within a so-called "Regulated Area," and removes the Brown-tail Moth from quarantine in Vermont.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert J. Branon, as Commissioner of Agriculture of the State of Vermont, under authority conferred by Title 6, Chapter 82, Sections 982 and 984 of the Vermont Statutes Annotated, do hereby designate those portions of the State of Vermont, hereinafter described as areas under quarantine regulation, and do hereby forbid the movement intrastate of the following articles from the regulated areas to points outside such areas unless accompanied by a certificate or permit issued by the Vermont Department of Agriculture or the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
AREA UNDER QUARANTINE REGULATION
The area under quarantine regulation in Vermont shall be that as defined by the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Plant Pest Control Division, for the purpose of its interstate Gypsy Moth and Brown-tail Moth Domestic Quarantine No. 45. Future amendments or revisions of those designated areas by the Agricultural Research Service, Plant Pest Control Division, shall automatically apply to the quarantine regulated areas within the meaning of Vermont Department of Agriculture Quarantine No. 2.
This order shall be effective as of August 5, 1966.
