Section R432-16-9 - Patient Support Areas
(1) The licensee shall ensure patient living areas are equipped with tables, reading lamps, and comfortable chairs designed to be usable by each patient.
(2) The licensee shall ensure:
(a) the total area set aside for dining, patient lounges, and recreation area is at least 35 square feet per bed, with a minimum total area of 225 square feet with at least 20 square feet per bed available for dining; and
(b) there is a general-purpose room with a minimum area of 100 square feet that accommodates family gatherings and is equipped with a table, comfortable chairs, and incandescent lighting. In a small hospice inpatient facility, this room may be omitted if the required living area includes an enclosed lounge.
(4) The licensee shall ensure a minimum area of ten square feet per is be provided for outdoor recreation. This space shall be provided in addition to the setbacks on street frontages required by local zoning ordinances.
