Section 350.706 - Referrals Received While the Child Is in the Hospital
(a) In order to facilitate discharge planning and provide continuity of care, a contractor may accept referrals for children who are residing in a hospital at the time of referral.
(b) If a referral is received for a child who has an adjusted age of zero months or less or who has a qualifying medical diagnosis, the contractor may choose to determine eligibility and complete the initial Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) prior to the child's discharge from the hospital.
(1) The interdisciplinary team who determines eligibility may include a licensed or registered hospital professional, who will serve as the Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA) while the child is in the hospital. The LPHA on the IFSP team may participate by means other than face to face, if acceptable to the team and if the initial IFSP is conducted while the child is in the hospital.
(2) The interdisciplinary team must include at least one Early Childhood Intervention professional and a licensed or registered hospital professional who is familiar with the needs of the child and knowledgeable in the area or areas of concern. The participating licensed or registered hospital professional is not required to complete the orientation training required in § 350.309(b) of this chapter (relating to Minimum Requirements for All Direct Service Staff). Allowable licensed or registered hospital professionals include:
(A) licensed physician;
(B) registered nurse;
(C) licensed physical therapist;
(D) licensed occupational therapist;
(E) licensed speech language pathologist;
(F) licensed dietitian;
(G) licensed audiologist;
(H) licensed physician assistant;
(I) licensed intern in speech language pathology; or
(J) advanced practice registered nurse.
