Section 61:08:09:44 - Repair of defects

Defects such as a crack in a welded joint or deep pitting must be completely removed before repair. If the defect penetrates the full thickness of the material, the repair must be made with a complete penetration weld such as a double butt weld or a single butt weld, with or without backing.
