A status employee may appeal the classification of the employee's position made in accordance with § 55:10:10:01 to the commissioner within 14 days after notification of the classification decision. The commissioner shall reply in writing within 30 days after receipt of the appeal, but may extend that period as needed. If not satisfied with the response, the applicant may, within 14 days from the date of the notice from the commissioner, appeal to the commission pursuant to the provisions of subdivision 55:10:08:16(3).
