Section 20:60:10:01 - Definitions

Terms used in the chapter mean:

(1) "Academic credit," one academic credit of psychology relevant coursework equals 15 contact hours of continuing education or 1.5 continuing education units;

(2) "Annual licensure period," the year which commences with July first of the year in which the licensee obtained or renewed a South Dakota psychology license.

(3) "Contact hour," one contact hour of continuing education will be granted for each hour of participation in a continuing education activity;

(4) "Continuing education," programs or activities that contribute to a licensees professional knowledge and competence, including but not limited to academic courses, workshops, clinics, forums, lectures, programs, seminars, or other educational activities developed for the purpose of increasing or sustaining the proficiency of the licensee in the practice of psychology;

(5) "Continuing education unit," one continuing education unit equals 10 contact hours;

(6) "Licensee," a person licensed pursuant to SDCL 36-27A;
