Section 20:53:03:02 - Experience required for testing

An applicant for a plumbing contractor's license shall show evidence of six years' experience as a plumbing contractor, plumber, or plumber's apprentice with at least two of those years as a plumbing contractor or plumber. During the six years the applicant must have spent at least 1900 hours per year as a plumbing contractor, plumber, or plumber's apprentice. Applicants for a plumber's license shall show evidence of four years' experience as an apprentice plumber. During the four years the applicant must have spent at least 1900 hours per year as an apprentice. Credit for military plumbing is given at the rate of one year credit for each two years in the military up to a maximum of five years of credit. The commission shall provide forms for such applications and may investigate the individual's experience. If the commission finds the individual has the required experience, the individual shall be tested. If the commission does not allow testing based on the application, it shall notify the applicant that the applicant is being refused a license and the matter shall be treated as a contested case.
