Section 20:04:26:12 - Claim-making procedure

Each person desiring to make a claim shall first deposit with the association the whole amount of the claim in cash unless the person has at that time an equal unencumbered amount of credit with the association. The association shall give a receipt to the person making the deposit. The claim must be made in writing on a form supplied by the racing secretary. It must be signed and enclosed in an envelope provided for that purpose. No money may accompany the claim. The envelope containing the claim must have no identification mark on it, but it must be marked with the number of the race. It must be sealed and deposited in the claim box not later than the time when all horses have left the paddock for the race in which the claimed horse is entered. The paddock judge shall open the claim box immediately after all horses have left the paddock for the post. The paddock judge shall immediately deliver any claims to the stewards.
