Section 216-RICR-40-15-1.15 - Emergency Response Related to Pharmacy Practice and ProceduresA. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Part to the contrary, during a State of Emergency declared by the Governor pursuant to R.I. Gen. Laws § 30-15-9 and with approval from the Director, the practice of pharmacy shall include and permit the following practices and procedures:1. Notwithstanding the provisions of §1.5.18 of this Part, or any other provision of this Part to the contrary, any pharmacist is authorized to autosubstitute a prescribed medication product without having to adhere to a dispense-as-written directive.2. Notwithstanding the provisions of §1.4.9 of this Part, or any other provision of this Part to the contrary, an intern holding a valid, active intern license from another State, as verified by the hiring pharmacy, is permitted to work in any pharmacy located in Rhode Island.3. Notwithstanding the provisions of § 1.7 of this Part, or any other provision of this Part to the contrary, compounding personnel are permitted to adhere to current recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or other nationally recognized public health agency for use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during non-hazardous sterile compounding for the purpose of conserving PPE resources.4. Notwithstanding the provisions of § 1.7(E)(2) of this Part, or any other provision of this Part to the contrary, pharmacies that engage in the pharmaceutical preparation of CSPs are permitted to extend the period for certification inspections beyond six (6) months, subject to approval by the Director.5. Notwithstanding the provisions of §1.6.1(3) of this Part, which sets forth certain responsibilities of licensed pharmacies and pharmacists providing pharmaceutical services by contract to nursing, hospice, or correctional facilities to be set forth in written policies and procedures, the responsibilities referenced in §1.6.1(3)(e) and (f) of this Part are suspended.216 R.I.
