Section 216-RICR-40-10-8.1 - AuthorityA. These regulations are promulgated pursuant to the authority set forth in R.I. Gen. Laws § 23-17-10, and are established for the purpose of adopting minimum standards for Birth Centers which are consistent with acceptable standards of practice and which ensure that, while providing pregnant women with a maternity care alternative, the Birth Centers will provide services in such a manner as to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of mothers and newborns.B. A hospital birth center service, maintained and operated by a hospital on its licensed premises shall be subject to the standards for birth center services as set forth in the rules and regulations for Licensing of Hospitals (Part 4 of this Subchapter) and shall operate under the hospital license.216 R.I.
