Section 216-RICR-40-05-15.8 - Licensure of Psychologists15.8.1By Examination Applicants shall be required to pass the Examination of Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) offered by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB), unless exempted in accordance with sect; 15.8.3 of this Part. The passing score, as approved by the Board, shall be the ASPPB's recommended passing score.
15.8.2Temporary Permits A temporary permit to practice psychology under supervision may be granted to a candidate for licensure who has paid the required fee as set forth in the Fee Structure for Licensing, Laboratory and Administrative Services Provided by the Department of Health (Part 10-05-2 of this Title) and has satisfied the provisions of R.I. Gen. Laws sect; 5-44-13.
15.8.3By Endorsement Licensure by endorsement is in accordance with the provisions set forth in R.I. Gen. Laws sect; 5-44-11.
15.8.4Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact ("PSYPACT") LicensureA. Rhode Island licensees who wish to practice telepsychology under the authority of PSYPACT must: 1. Be physically located in the PSYPACT home state of licensure at the time any services are provided;2. Possess an active ASPPB e-Passport that meets the requirements set by the ASPPB; and,3. Maintain compliance with R.I. Gen. Laws Chapters 5-44 and 5-44.1, and any other applicable PSYPACT rules and requirements.4. Additionally, Rhode Island licensees who wish to have temporary authorization for in-person, face-to-face practice under the authority of PSYPACT must currently hold an active Interjurisdictional Practice Certificate issued by the ASPPB.B. A psychologist practicing into a receiving state under the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology must practice within areas of competencies and the scope of practice authorized by the home state as stated in R.I. Gen. Laws sect; 5-44.1-2(IV)(C).C. A psychologist practicing into a receiving state under the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology will be subject to the home state's authority and laws, as stated in R.I. Gen. Laws sect; 5-44.1-2(IV)(D).D. If a psychologist's license in any home state, another compact state, or any Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology in any receiving state is restricted, suspended or otherwise limited, the e-Passport shall be revoked and the psychologist shall not be eligible to practice telepsychology in a compact state under the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology as stated in R.I. Gen. Laws sect; 5-44.1-2(IV)(E).E. If a home state takes adverse action against a psychologist's license, that psychologist's Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology is terminated and the e-Passport is revoked. Furthermore, that psychologist's Temporary Authorization to Practice is terminated and the IPC is revoked, as stated in R.I. Gen. Laws sect; 5-44.1-2(VII)(C).216 R.I. Code R. § 216-RICR-40-05-15.8
