Section 200-RICR-20-20-1.12 - Substitute Teachers and Athletic CoachesA. The following requirements apply to substitute teachers and athletic coaches. 1. Athletic Coach a. Successfully complete a First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course prior to employment as a coach; andb. Meet all additional requirements of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League.2. Day to Day Substitute Teacher a. An individual who is employed, on a temporary basis, for fewer than forty-five (45) days in the same assignment.b. Individuals must hold: (1) A bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university; or(2) An associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university; or(3) A minimum of two (2) years college completion on track to a four (4) year degree.c. Substitutes for School Nurse Teacher must hold a license as a Registered Nurse.3. Substitute Teacher-Long-term a. An individual who is employed, on a temporary basis, for more than forty-five (45) consecutive days in the same assignment must hold an appropriate certificate for the assignment.200 R.I.
