Section 6500.109 - Fire drills(a) A fire drill shall be held at least every 3 months, until all individuals demonstrate the ability to evacuate within 2 1/2 minutes, or within the period of time specified in writing within the past year by a fire safety expert, without family assistance, or with family assistance if the individual is never alone in the home. The fire safety expert may not be a family member or employe of the agency.(b) A fire drill shall be held at least every 6 months if all individuals have the ability to evacuate as specified in subsection (a).(c) Documentation of the individual's ability to evacuate shall be specified in the individual's assessment.(d) A written fire drill record shall be kept of the date, time, the amount of time it took for evacuation, the exit route used, problems encountered and whether the smoke detector was operative.(e) A fire drill shall be held during sleeping hours at least every 12 months.(f) Alternate exit routes shall be used during fire drills.(g) Fire drills shall be held on different days of the week and at different times of the day and night.(h) Individuals shall evacuate to a designated meeting place outside the home during each fire drill.(i) At least one smoke detector shall be set off during each fire drill.
