Section 2390.199 - Medication administration training(a) A staff person who has successfully completed a Department-approved medications administration course, including the course renewal requirements, may administer the following: (3) Eye, nose and ear drop medications.(b) A staff person may administer insulin injections following successful completion of both: (1) The course specified in subsection (a).(2) A Department-approved diabetes patient education program within the past 12 months.(c) A staff person may administer an epinephrine injection by means of an auto-injection device in response to anaphylaxis or another serious allergic reaction following successful completion of both:(1) The course specified in subsection (a).(2) Training relating to the use of an auto-injection epinephrine injection device provided by a licensed, registered or certified health care professional within the past 12 months.(d) A record of the training shall be kept including the person trained, the date, source, name of trainer and documentation that the course was successfully completed.Adopted by Pennsylvania Bulletin, Vol 47, No. 33.
