Section 31.132 - Bill of lading(a) A household goods carrier shall issue a bill of lading (receipt) for each shipment. The bill of lading must contain the following information: (1) The name, address and telephone number of the carrier.(2) The carrier's certificate number.(3) The name and address of the shipper.(4) The date of the shipment.(5) The origin and destination of the shipment.(6) A detailed account of the charges and applicable rates.(7) A total of the charges due and acceptable methods of payment.(b) The carrier shall present the bill of lading to the shipper within 15 days of the delivery date.(c) The carrier shall attach a copy of the estimated cost of services and inventory to the bill of lading.(d) A copy of the bill of lading must accompany the shipment at all times.(e) Carriers shall retain a copy of the bill of lading for 2 years from the date of the move.(f) The bill of lading may not contain any language purporting to release or discharge the carrier from liability for damage otherwise required by agreement or law.
