Section 21.145b - IV therapy curriculum requirements(a) An IV therapy course provided as part of the LPN education curriculum in § 21.203 (relating to specific curriculum requirements for practical nursing programs) or as a stand-alone course offered by a provider shall include instruction of the topics in § 21.203(d)(8). An instructor of a stand-alone course shall have knowledge and skill in the aspect of the course content taught.(b) Providers of stand-alone courses shall apply for approval from the Board before offering an IV therapy course. The request for approval must include the following: (1) A course outline that includes the components of the IV therapy course required under § 21.203(d)(8).(2) A description of the methods of instruction and the clinical learning experiences provided.(3) A description of specific methodologies and tools that evaluate the learner's achievement of the objectives.(4) A list of faculty membership and verification that the instructors have knowledge and skill in the aspect of the content taught.The provisions of this § 21.145b adopted August 24, 2012, effective 8/25/2012, 42 Pa.B. 5484.The provisions of this § 21.145b issued under section 17.6 of the Practical Nurse Law (63 P.S. § 667.6).
