Section 20.53 - Topical preparations(a) Massage therapists shall store topical preparations in a manner that maintains the integrity of the product and prevents spoilage and contamination.(b) Massage therapists shall dispense topical preparations in a manner that prevents contamination of the unused portion and that prevents cross-contamination between clients.(c) Massage therapists shall use topical preparations that come into contact with a client, such as ice cubes, plasters, herbs, seaweed, muds, scrubs, paraffin or any other similar products only once and shall then dispose of the topical preparations in a sanitary manner. Preparations that are not washed away must be placed in a covered receptacle that is emptied at least daily.
