Section 39.292 - Grounding noncurrent-carrying parts
(a) Exposed noncurrent-carrying metal parts of electrical equipment at over 150 volts to ground shall be permanently grounded. In electric cars steam or hot water heating devices accessible to the public shall also be grounded. The ground connection through well bonded track rails shall be considered satisfactory for equipment on cars and cranes.
(b) The metallic parts of portable cranes, derricks, hoists and similar equipment on which wires, cables, chains, or other conducting objects are maintained should be provided with an effective protective ground. Reference should be made to §§ 39.61-39.70 (relating to methods of protective grounding), when operated in the vicinity of supply lines operating at over 150 volts to ground, and whether the cranes or similar equipment are themselves electrically operated.
