Section 37a.4 - [Effective 2/12/2025] Examination requirement(a)Examination required. The department or a third-party approved by the department will conduct licensing examinations for "surplus lines" licensees as defined in section 1602 of The Insurance Company Law of 1921 (40 P.S. § 991.1602) and "title insurance" agents as defined in section 724 of The Insurance Company Law of 1921 (40 P.S. § 910-24) and for each of the lines of authority as defined in section 601-A of the act (40 P.S. § 310.1) other than limited lines.(b)Scope and content of examination. Examinations will be designed to test the adequacy of an applicant's knowledge of general principles of insurance and insurance laws and of particular areas of insurance practice as are pertinent to the lines of authority for which application is intended and will be specific to the laws of this Commonwealth.Adopted by Pennsylvania Bulletin, Vol 54, No. 50.
