Section 233.103 - Powers and dutiesThe powers and duties of the Commission are set forth in section 5 of the act (24 P. S. § 2070.5). In assessing the effectiveness of educator preparation programs to provide recommended changes to the State Board, the Commission may conduct site reviews of individual teacher preparation programs unilaterally or participate in site reviews conducted by the Department or other agencies and organizations.
(1) The Commission may recommend to the State Board changes in teacher education standards based on Commission conducted analyses of the Department program approval process.(2) In recommending these changes, the Commission may organize and operate an annual review of and address the strengths and weaknesses of the program review process.(3) Recommendations made by the Commission under section 5 of the act will be presented publicly at scheduled meetings of the State Board prior to State Board action on regulations, standards or guidelines affecting teacher certification, professional practices, accreditation of teacher education programs and long range plans.(4) Recommendations will be made in a timely fashion to facilitate the work of the State Board.The provisions of this § 233.103 adopted May 3, 2002, effective 5/4/2002, 32 Pa.B. 2226.
