Rule 101 - Purpose

The public properly expects that judges at all levels of the judiciary will maintain professional competence and ethical behavior. To meet the public's expectations and to ensure that magisterial district judges and arraignment court magistrates have and maintain the requisite knowledge and skills to perform the duties of their office, these rules are promulgated in accordance with 42 Pa.C.S. § 3119 to prescribe standards for implementation of 42 Pa.C.S. §§ 3111et seq.
