Section 333-122-0180 - General Requirements for All RGD: Individual Monitoring
(1) Finger or wrist dosimetry devices shall be provided and used by:
(a) RGD X-ray operators using systems having an open-beam configuration and not equipped with a safety device; and
(b) Personnel maintaining RGD X-ray equipment if the maintenance procedures require the presence of a primary X-ray beam when any local component in the X-ray system is disassembled or removed.
(2) Operators will be exempt from the requirements of this rule, if the following criteria are met:
(a) The RGD X-ray machine shielding meets the requirements in OAR 333-122-0090, or
(b) The RGD X-ray machine is classified as an XRF analytical hand-held device and meets the requirements in OAR 333-122-0020; or
(c) The registrant provides calculations and documentation of operator exposures during maximum usage over the course of normal operations (2080 hours per year) that are less than or equal to 500 mR per year per operator and not exceed any limits listed in OAR 333-120-0100.
(3) Reported dose values from measured X-ray operator exposures shall not be used for the purpose of determining compliance with OAR 333-120-0100 unless evaluated by a qualified expert.
