Section 800:25-7-21 - Rabbit (cottontail, swamp and jackrabbit)

The following hunting dates, bag limits, hunting hours and legal means of taking apply to rabbit:

(1)Dates and open areas. The dates for hunting rabbit shall be October 1- March 15 and the season is open statewide, except no open season on jackrabbits East of Interstate 35.

(2)Bag limit. The bag limit for rabbit shall be as follows:

(A) Cottontail: 10 daily, 20 in possession after first day.

(B) Swamp: 3 daily, 6 in possession after first day.

(C) Jackrabbit: 3 daily, 6 in possession after first day, except Cimarron, Texas and Beaver counties shall be 10 daily, 20 in possession after first day.

(3)Hunting hours. The hunting hours shall be one-half hour before sunrise to sunset.

(4)Legal means of taking. The legal means of taking shall be shotgun (conventional or muzzleloading), bow and arrow, hand-propelled missile, air-propelled missile, slingshot, handgun or rifle (conventional or muzzleloading), except as otherwise provided.
