Section 670:15-9-6 - Knowledge test
(a)General. A knowledge test is administered to each applicant for a driver license to determine the person's ability to read and understand highway signs and the person's knowledge of the traffic laws of this state. The knowledge test, if it is not waived, and the vision test shall be successfully passed by the applicant before the skills test is administered. The knowledge test includes, when applicable, any separate endorsement/restriction test as described in this Section. The knowledge test may be administered by Service Oklahoma or Written Examination Proctors that have entered into an agreement with Service Oklahoma. An applicant determined by an examiner to be cheating on any portion of the examination shall:
(1) immediately forfeit the examination,
(2) be given a failing score by the examiner, and
(3) be disqualified from retaking the examination for one week.
(b)Class D driver license. The knowledge test administered for a Class D driver license shall consist of a minimum of twenty (20) multiple choice questions. The minimum passing score for a Class D knowledge test shall be seventy-five percent (75%).
(c)Alternate method of testing. Service Oklahoma may provide an alternate method of testing the knowledge of the individual:
(1) who cannot read or has a language barrier, or
(2) by means of online knowledge testing, if an electronic testing process is available and approved by Service Oklahoma, in conjunction with the Department of Public Safety.
(d)Retesting. An applicant failing the knowledge, combination, or endorsement test may be granted the opportunity to retest on the next regular business day.
(e)Discretionary tests. Tests may be administered as required for the establishment and authorization of special endorsements or of permits for the operation of certain vehicles.
