Section 310:315-5-2 - Sewer

(a)Adequate sanitary and storm sewer system required. The sewer systems shall be adequate to serve the facility, include bathhouse, locker room, and related accommodations, and to provide for liquid waste disposal and surface drainage.

(b)Pool wastewater. Pool wastewater shall be discharged through an air gap to a sanitary sewer, used for pool makeup water after sedimentation and filtration, or used for irrigation after sedimentation. Proposals for a point discharge of the wastewater to a storm drain or receiving stream will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and will require obtaining a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit and compliance with all permit conditions. Disposal of wastewater from diatomaceous earth type filters shall be accomplished through adequately sized separation tanks acceptable to the Department, equipped with air bleed valves, bottom drain lines, and isolation valves, or through systems of a settling tank or tanks with final disposal being acceptable to local authorities. Waste lines shall be sized to handle the expected flow. There shall be an indirect connection between any drain from a pool or recirculation system and a sewer line.

(c)Disposal of sanitary wastewater. The sanitary sewer serving the bathhouse and ancillary facilities shall connect to the public sewer wherever possible. Where no such sewer is available, the sewer shall connect to a suitable treatment plant designed, constructed, and operated in accordance with the minimum requirements of the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality.
