(a)Qualification. Those veterans with at least 50% service connected disability, as certified by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs or a branch of the United States Armed Forces, have the option of receiving their regular plate or a special plate designated "D.A.V." at a reduced rate. Those veterans not desiring the "D.A.V." plate may continue to purchase the regular tag for two (2) vehicles with a rated carrying capacity of one (1) ton or less at any Service Oklahoma location. An insurance verification fee will also be charged.
(b)Application; fees; renewal. To receive the special "D.A.V." plate, the DAV Card or current authorization letter, a photocopy of the current registration, Security Verification Card, and a check which includes mailing fees and insurance for each tag ordered, must be submitted to Service Oklahoma. After the initial issuance from Service Oklahoma, the plate can be renewed at any Service Oklahoma location.
(c)Procedure for retention of tag; use on replacement vehicle. When a vehicle with a "D.A.V." tag is sold, the "D.A.V." tag is placed on the new vehicle, if any, obtained by the disabled veteran. D.A.V. plates may only be moved to a new vehicle at the time of initial title and registration. The registration issued on the replacement vehicle will show the "D.A.V." tag number and decal.
