The undergraduate residency requirement establishes a definition for residency for the awarding of a degree from the university. Residency is defined as the number of credit hours a student needs to complete while enrolled at the university. Each college has the right to establish its residency requirements, i.e. specific number of credit hours a student must complete while enrolled at the university. Furthermore, a college has the right to require that residency hours are earned in a specific class or specific classes, specific programs and/or in specific semesters prior to the proposed semester when the student plans to graduate.
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that students who graduate from the university of Toledo have taken a minimum number of credit hours at the university.
This policy applies to all undergraduate students. Each college may publish detailed implementation strategies specific to that college.
Each college will make available and will maintain up-to-date information on its residency requirement including specific courses, specific programs and/or the specific semesters for native and transfer students. This information will be included as part of degree audit.
