Section 62-04-02-07 - Protection of pipes1.Breakage. Pipes passing under or through walls shall be protected from breakage. Any plumbing pipe passing under a footing or through a foundation wall shall be provided with a relieving arch; or there shall be built into the masonry wall an iron-pipe sleeve two pipe sizes greater than the pipe passing through; or equivalent protection shall be provided as may be approved in writing by the administrative authority. 2.Corrosion. Pipe subject to corrosion by passing through or under corrosive fill, such as, but not limited to, cinders, concrete, or other corrosive material, shall be protected against external corrosion by protective coating, wrapping, or other means which will resist such corrosion. 3.Cutting or notching. Any structural member weakened or impaired by cutting, notching, or otherwise, shall be reinforced, repaired, or replaced, so as to be left in a safe structural condition in accordance with the requirements of the building code or as required by the proper administrative authority.
