Section 33-11-08-01 - Eligibility for emergency medical services grants

Certain ambulance services may be eligible for grants on an annual basis dependent upon legislative appropriation. In addition to compliance with chapter 23-40 of the North Dakota Century Code the following conditions must be met to be eligible for an emergency medical services grant.

1. Application for the grant shall be made in the manner and timeframe prescribed by the department.
2. The ambulance service must be based in North Dakota.
3. The ambulance service must be licensed as a basic life support ground ambulance as described in chapter 33-11-02 or licensed as an advanced life support ground ambulance as described in 33-11-03 for at least twelve months prior to the filing of the application.
4. The ambulance service must bill for services at a level at least equivalent to the medicare billing level.
5. Criteria for grant approval shall be established by the state health council and shall at a minimum include consideration of:
a. The transportation distance to hospitals.
b. The size of the ambulance service area.
c. Contributing factors that may affect the number of patient care providers on the ambulance service.
d. The volume of ambulance runs.
