14B N.C. Admin. Code 8A.0106

Current through Register Vol. 39, No. 12, December 1, 2024
Section 08A .0106 - GENDER

In most instances, the Rules in this Chapter apply to males and females equally. In an effort to reinforce this intent, the pronouns indicating both sexes are used extensively throughout, such as he/she, him/her, and his/her. Nevertheless, where the masculine pronoun only appears, the intent is for the rule to apply to both sexes, unless the context obviously indicates otherwise. This is in consonance with Section 12-3(1) of the General Statutes which reads in part, "...; and every word importing the masculine gender only shall extend and be applied to females as well as to males, unless the context clearly shows to the contrary".
