Section 34 .0508 - WOOD-DECAY FUNGI(a) The following conditions shall be considered satisfactory evidence of and necessary conditions for an active wood-decay fungus infestation: (1) Moisture content of the wood sufficient to support the growth of wood-decay fungus, as determined through the use of a moisture meter; and(2) The presence of mycelial growth or characteristic damage from wood-decay fungi.(b) A moisture content in the wooden members of a structure in excess of 20 percent of a dry weight basis shall be recognized as an indication that some steps should be taken to control the moisture level of the affected member(s).(c) Pesticide applications for the control or prevention of wood-decay fungi may only be performed after informing the property owner or their authorized agent in writing of the biology and conditions supporting the growth of wood-decay fungi. Such notice shall include an evaluation of the condition of the structure, including the moisture content of the wooden members to be treated as determined with a moisture meter, and a statement as to whether or not such condition(s) will support the growth of wood-decay fungus.02 N.C.
