Each special policeman of a regional corporation other than New York City, who is to have the status of a peace officer shall be previously approved by the commission. Application for such approval shall be made on the forms supplied by the commission. The term of such appointment shall be set by the commission but may be terminated at any time prior thereto by the commission. The commission may set conditions upon such approval.
