Section 1631-2.4 - Employee safety(a) To promote employee safety, the authority shall provide and maintain work places, machinery and equipment in a safe and reliable condition. If repairs affecting employee safety are necessary, no employee should be permitted to operate such equipment until necessary repairs are made. Grinding machines must have guards. Gears, belts and drives on machines must be enclosed. Masks for incinerator cleaning, goggles and similar safety equipment must be provided to employees.(b) As a safety precaution, an employee should be aware of the nature of the fluid contained in the piping on which he is working. Therefore, piping should be color coded in accordance with standards listed below. This coding can be accomplished by painting or by banding the pipe at frequent intervals with colored tape. The direction of the flow should be indicated by an arrow. Oil lines | Blue |

(c) Swift and appropriate medical attention must be provided when necessary. The authority should establish a plan of operation for obtaining such medical service. All accidents must be reported (see § 1631-2.2, subd. [c] above) and the authority should take such action as will insure against repetition of similar accidents.
