Section 1504.7 - Local water-flow alarm(a) A local water-flow alarm shall be installed in new sprinkler systems that are used to protect a public hall or stairs or a required means of egress, or for systems where a new sprinkler pipe supplies more than five sprinkler heads, or for other systems where deemed necessary by the department.(b) Required local water-flow alarms shall include sounding devices of sufficient size and so located that the sound can be heard by the occupants or by an authorized person on duty at all times to take proper action. The alarm shall be caused to sound when the flow of water through any portion of the sprinkler piping is equal to or greater than that flowing from a single sprinkler head.N.Y. Comp. Codes R. & Regs.
