Section 1504.4 - Piping systems(a) New sprinkler systems shall be capable of withstanding a water pressure of at least 175 pounds per square inch, except that systems supplied from domestic piping shall be capable of withstanding a water pressure of at least 125 pounds per square inch. All parts of the system, including tanks, that are exposed to the weather or subjected to freezing shall be designed, installed and protected so as to withstand damage and to function in a satisfactory manner.(b) The size of the domestic water supply pipe from which the sprinkler connection is made shall be at least equal to the required size of the main sprinkler connection.(c) Pipe sizes for new sprinkler systems shall conform to the requirements for light-hazard conditions of the generally accepted standards listed in the appendix.[FN*] [FN*] See Appendix S-2.
