Section 1500.2 - Existing installations

(a) Before existing fire alarm systems installed prior to July 1, 1952, may be approved as complying with the requirements of this Part, they shall be examined and tested by the department. Such systems shall be in operative condition, free of mechanical injury and structural defects, and shall present no potential source of electrical hazard.

(b) Extensions to existing fire alarm systems shall comply with all of the provisions of this Part applicable to new installations.
