N.Y. Comp. Codes R. & Regs. tit. 9 § 4.13

Current through Register Vol. 46, No. 45, November 2, 2024
Section 4.13 - Executive order no. 13: declaring a disaster emergency in the counties of broome, chautauqua, chemung and tioga and directing state agencies to assist local authorities

WHEREAS, a continuing assessment by State agencies indicates that the series of tornados and associated severe weather on May 2 and 3, 1983, which led to the declaration of a State of Disaster Emergency in Oneida County, have also caused significant damage and destruction to public and private property in Broome, Chautauqua, Chemung and Tioga Counties and the counties require governmental assistance to repair, restore and protect the damaged property.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mario M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of New York, do hereby find that a disaster has occurred for which local governments are unable to respond adequately, and, therefore, I hereby declare, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Laws of the State of New York and section 28 of article 2-B of the Executive Law, a disaster emergency, effective May 6, 1983, within the Counties of Broome, Chautauqua, Chemung and Tioga.

FURTHER, pursuant to section 29 of article 2-B of the New York State Executive Law, I direct the implementation of the State Disaster Preparedness Plan and authorize, effective May 6, 1983, State agencies to take such action as necessary to assist the affected areas in repairing, restoring, and protecting highway transportation systems and to provide necessary emergency assistance in order to protect the public health and safety.

Signed: Mario M. CuomoDated: May 12, 1983
