Section 3.98 - Executive Order No. 98: Designating the Department of Health as the State agency responsible for statistical activities under the Cooperative Health Statistics Plan System

WHEREAS, The acquisition, storage, retrieval, analysis and dissemination of health-related statistics have an important bearing on the public health; and

WHEREAS, The New York State Department of Health, through its Offices of Public Health and Health Systems Management, is now engaged in and developing programs which use health-related statistics; and

WHEREAS, Recent Federal legislation establishing the Cooperative Health Statistics System requires that each State designate a State agency to administer or be responsible for the statistical activities under the system; and

WHEREAS, The New York State Department of Health now participates under Federal contract in the Cooperative Health Statistics System;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Hugh L. Carey, Governor of the State of New York, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Laws of the State of New York, do hereby designate the New York State Department of Health as the sole State agency responsible for administering health-related statistical activities within the State under the Cooperative Health Statistics System.
