Section 3.101 - Executive Order No. 101: Declaring a disaster emergency in the towns of Woodstock and Shandaken

WHEREAS, I have been informed that on March 21 and 22 extremely heavy rains in certain areas of New York State caused extensive damage to the transportation systems of the towns of Woodstock and Shandaken in Ulster County; and

WHEREAS, Such damage has resulted in a danger to motorists and the general public;

NOW THEREFORE, I, Hugh L. Carey, Governor of the State of New York, do hereby find that a disaster has occurred or may be imminent for which local governments are unable to respond adequately and, therefore, I hereby declare, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution, the Laws of New York State and article 2-B of the Executive Law, a disaster emergency affecting the transportation systems of the towns of Woodstock and Shandaken for which emergency assistance is required for a period not to exceed 60 days from this date to cope with this disaster emergency.

Further, pursuant to article 2-B of the Executive Law, I direct the Commissioner of Transportation to take such action as is necessary to assist the aforementioned towns to restore the damaged transportation systems in order to eliminate the danger to the public and in order to protect these systems from future damage in the event of flooding.
