A licensed psychoanalyst may use accepted classifications of signs, symptoms, dysfunctions and disorders, such as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, published by the American Psychiatric Association, or an equivalent classification system as determined by the department, provided that such use is consistent with the practice of psychoanalysis as defined in section 8405 (1) of the Education Law.
