Section 1204.2 - Vehicle size and weight limitations
(a)Length.
(1) Single vehicles having an over-all length of more than 45 feet, including their load.
(2) Dual vehicles having an over-all length of more than 85 feet for the combination, including their load.
(b)Width.

Vehicles having an outside over-all width of more than eight feet six inches, including their load, and vehicles equipped with pneumatic tires having an over-all width not exceeding eight feet eight inches, the bodies of which, including load, do not exceed eight feet six inches.

(c)Side overhang-tunnels only.

Vehicles, up to and including 11 feet six inches above the roadway, with a side overhang, including load, of more than 11 inches beyond the rim of the wheel. No side overhang is permitted above 11 feet six inches.

(d)Height.
(1) Bridges-vehicles, including their loads, having an over-all height of more than 14 feet from the roadway.
(2) George Washington Bridge Expressway-vehicles, including their loads, having an over-all height of more than 13 feet six inches from the roadway.
(3) Tunnels-vehicles, including their loads, exceeding 13 feet in height at the Lincoln Tunnel, and vehicles, including their loads, exceeding 12 feet six inches in height at the Holland Tunnel.
(e)Weight.
(1) Single vehicles having two axles, when the gross weight, including the load, exceeds 40,000 pounds; and single vehicles having three or more axles, when the gross weight, including the load, exceeds 50,000 pounds.
(2) Dual vehicles having three axles, when the gross weight, including the load, exceeds 60,000 pounds; and dual vehicles having four or more axles, when the gross weight, including the load, exceeds 70,000 pounds.
(3) Single axles, when the gross weight thereon, including load, exceeds 32,000 pounds; and tandem axles (consecutive axles not less than 40 inches apart, nor more than eight feet apart) when the gross weight thereon, including load, exceeds 20,000 pounds per axle.

Note A: Vehicles equipped with pneumatic tires having an over-all width not exceeding 8 feet 8 inches the bodies of which, including load, do not exceed 8 feet 6 inches.
Note B: No side overhang permitted over 11 feet 6 inches above the roadway.
Note C: The maximum permissible height in the George Washington Bridge Expressway is 13 feet 6 inches.
Note D: Bridges-14 feet; Lincoln Tunnel-13 feet.
