Section 1045.1 - Authorization and purpose
(a) The Metropolitan Suburban Bus Authority ("MSBA") (which is also known as "MTA Long Island Bus") is a public benefit corporation and an independent subsidiary of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority ("MTA"). As such, MSBA is empowered by the New York State Public Authorities Law to make rules and regulations governing the conduct and safety of the public in the use and operation of its buses and transit facilities. Public Authorities Law, sections 1266(4); 1265(5); 1265(14); 1266(8).
(b) MSBA promulgates the rules set forth below to promote safety, to facilitate the proper use of MSBA's transit facilities, its customers, its employees and public. In addition to these rules, all applicable provisions of the Penal Law or any other applicable law shall continue to be enforceable.
(c) These rules may be amended or added to from time to time, at the sole discretion of MSBA and in accordance with law.
